She's coming home today!

My little girl has been at camp all week and I pick her up today!  We have missed her so much and I can't wait to see her this afternoon.  It has been strange not being able to talk to her all week but I know she has had a wonderful time...at least I sure hope so!

I've had a pretty busy week after being gone for 3 up in Ohio.  It's so good to be home though!  :)

15 years!

Today is mine and Steve's 15th wedding anniversary!  I can't believe it has been that long and then sometimes it feels like it should be longer (in a good way!).  The sad part is I'm up here in Ohio and he is in NC so we can't even celebrate together.  One more week though and we will get to celebrate so it will just be a little postponed.  My day isn't going the best as my laptop just died for good I think (at least it's something I have to send it off to get fixed and I don't have time for that) so I'm grumpy about that.  It's rainy here and so fitting for my mood!  Happy Anniversay to me! I think I"ll have to blog more later on 15 years...wishing I was home to have him by my side right now!  :(  I think I will treat myself to Friendly's Reeces Peanut Butter Cup Sundae tonight and drown my sorrows!

MIA!

I am in Ohio right now with my family and have been for the last 2 weeks and won't be home for another week and a half! Summer is in full swing and not much time to sit and blog.  But I have been taking pictures so here is my last couple of weeks in pictures.

IMG_8353 Little Izzy who I thinks this office is her new home!  She has made herself right at home here and is getting lots of attention!
IMG_8363 Izzy and my mom!
IMG_8338 Okay this is a really bad picture but it so cracked me and my sister up!  Of course it could have just been that we had been scrapping the WHOLE day and into the night for a project but I think she is sporting her new Donald Trump comb over!!!  Don't ya think?!
IMG_8341 IMG_8342
IMG_8343 IMG_8347 What you are seeing above is 3 days of NON STOP scrapping for a girl who is graduating and her mom hired my sister to do her books that she hasn't done ANYTHING with for 18 years!  We did 139 pages in 3 days for this plus the wish book and the paper flower arrangement.  I was wiped out to say the least.  This is SO not my kind of scrapping but it had to be done and my sister could not have finished it without me.  I am scrapped out!  And all I have to say to my non scrapper friends is don't wait this long to want to do something with your pictures and expect your scrapper friends to have it done in a week for next to nothing!  ;)  I am definitely NOT a scrapper for hire for stuff like this!  So glad it is done though!
IMG_8364 IMG_8365 IMG_8368 Our visit with Great Grandma Meeks!  It is always so fun to see her and visit with her!
IMG_8380 I so love the Ohio sunsets as you can get such great lighting!
IMG_8393 And these pictures crack me up as the kids HAD to have pictures of this...some of them are pretty cool though! Star Wars on the trampoline!
IMG_8412 IMG_8426 IMG_8429 IMG_8432 And one sweet ending!

A little scray!

Yesterday as we were at the dragway we saw something that stopped us on in our tracks!  The sky started getting really dark and they stopped the racing as it was starting to sprinkle.  As we were getting the cars in the trailer we saw this...
IMG_8314 IMG_8315 IMG_8316-1 IMG_8317-1 We were literally standing there watching a tornado form above us!  It was the freakiest thing I had ever seen in the clouds!  The clouds were going round and round and forming a long funnel and then it would break apart and then form again and again.  I know we were pretty crazy standing there watching it and taking pictures but we were ready to take cover if something formed quickly.  :)

My little girl did it!!

She is now an official drag racer and one very proud happy little girl!  With one very proud mama!!!  I'll tell you the story in pictures...
IMG_8227
She is so serious getting ready in her fire suit!
IMG_8230 Papa and Spencer giving her some tips on racing.  Spencer was so cute with her telling her things to do and not to do and sharing advice with her!
IMG_8232 Here are the 2 Instigators (the names of the cars).  The one Kiersten will race is Spencer's old car as he got a brand new this year. They have to get hooked up to the golf cart and be pulled up to the racing lanes and also picked up to be taken back to the pit area.
IMG_8239 Here my girl is with her Papa and Uncle Mike going up for her first time down the track.
IMG_8242 Here she is in her get up!  They have to be all strapped in with harnesses, gloves, helmet, neckbrace and arms straps...quite the thing to do before going down the track but it makes my heart feel so much better knowing she has all this safety stuff on for sure!
IMG_8244 Papa  reassuring  Kiersten and making sure she is okay.  We had told Kiersten that is was Papa's final decision on her going down the track.  If he didn't think she was ready then she wouldn't go.  Thankfully yesterday he felt she was ready and it was all set to go!!
IMG_8245
Here are the 2 Instigators getting ready to go down the track.  Thankfully Kiersten and Spencer were able to go down the first time together during the time trials so Kiersten knew what to do at the end of the track since she had never done that part.
IMG_8287
IMG_8257 Here she is on the track watching Papa for the signals for her to go up to the starting point.
IMG_8255 Here she is getting ready to go down.  I was literally shaking as I was standing there just nervous for her!  Of course I couldn't show her that I was!  I knew she would be all right but still that mommy heart in me was beating very fast as she did this for the first time and I just wanted her to have fun and be safe!
IMG_8310 The Tree that they have to watch that tells them when to go.  It is all about going on the last yellow light and now waiting until the green and definitely not red lighting!  I am learning lots!
IMG_8303 Nothing like my little girl reassuring her shaking mommy!!!
IMG_8283 And she is off for the longest 12 seconds in my life!
IMG_8283 IMG_8265 This is one of those very country tracks for sure!  The Norwalk Raceway where we were Friday and Saturday is much better but that is the one she chickened out of.  Hopefully before we leave to go back home she will race there too.  I don't think anything will stop her now!
IMG_8268 Here she is after the race with Uncle Mike helping her out of her stuff!
IMG_8269 And that is my girl!  How proud I am of her!!!! :)

Summer is here!

IMG_7718 And my blog is being neglected!  Where has the time gone!  Since getting back from Kansas City it has just been crazy..but that good kind of crazy.  One of the reasons I feel summer is "officially" here is because of this picture. I have one little girl but today fixed 6 plates of lunch for neighbor kids and loved it!  I love that we have that neighborhood house that all the kids love to come to.  We have been in this neighborhood for a year and the kids are just great.  I can't say I have always felt this way as last year I can remember hiding while I was talking on the phone just to get a quiet private place to talk to a friend!  But after I set some rules and boundaries and started praying that the Lord would put love in my heart for each one that entered my door, things changed.  I can't say I never feel those feelings ever but for the most part it is all good.  The day I took this picture it just hit me at the opportunity I have to pour His love into these kids that come to our house and what a priviledge that is! I love it!

We had a low key Father's Day but fun!  Just to be able to spend some uninterrupted time with my family is a blessing I can't get enough of.  We went to downtown Asheville and ate at The Mellow Mushroom (one of our favorites!) and just walked around some and enjoyed the culture of our very diverse area!  And then I took Steve shopping!  Yeah every guys dream...ha!  He was in desperate need of some new summer clothes so I made him go with me and spend some money!  It was fun and I have to say he even enjoyed himself...and he looks GOOD too!

Some pictures from the homeschool retreat

IMG_7649-1
This is Steve Lambert and how we started off our retreat!  Gotta love it!
IMG_7656 We had lots of praise and worship times led by Heidi and Jay that were just wonderful!  I soaked it up like a sponge!
IMG_7657 Praying for one of those plot twists that blew our mind away.  God is so good! I can't wait to see the ending to Sarah and Fran's story!
IMG_7669 One proud Boompa with one of the cutest little girls ever!
IMG_7672 Elizabeth sharing her talent with us...amazing!
IMG_7675 Sweetie dancing with her grandbaby...so sweet!
IMG_7678 Rebekah reaping the results of saying very loudly "I"ll do anything for that!"  It was SO funny!
IMG_7680 The Lamberts, Boompa and Sweetie, receiving a basket full of love from us!  We love you all so very much!
IMG_7683 Our group circle where we spent the weekend soaking it all in!
IMG_7685 Our road trip crew!  Rachel, Rebekah, me and Candace.  We spent a lot of time in that van behind us (and I think part of our actual behinds!) and it was so much fun!  Love you girls!

That's all the pictures I took this weekend but I was proud for the few I did as sometimes I just forget in things like this.  It was a wonderful time that I will never forget!

My 37th birthday celebration!

My birthday was last Thursday but I was on the road with 4 girls on our way to a homeschooling retreat in Kansas City so I wasn't able to do anything with my family.  Kiersten was very sad about that as she is a party girl and loves to celebrate.  So I turned 37 driving somewhere down the road on our way but had a great time!  Once we got to our location we went to The Lamberts (amazing couple who wrote/own Five in a Row; our homeschool curriculum) and was able to have a few drinks and even a piece of amazing lemon cake with a candle and be embarrassed as many people I had just met for the first time in person sang me happy birthday.  I think I was 20 different shades of red!  But it was so sweet and I loved it...I think!  lOL!

So I got home yesterday and it was wonderful to see my family after being gone 5 days.  I missed them so much!  They had a surprise for me on the deck and Kiersten made me close my eyes as she led me up the path to our deck.  I opened my eyes to this....
IMG_7688
IMG_7689
IMG_7690-1  I had been drooling over this free standing umbrella at Target ever since I first saw it and I was so happy to see it on my deck!  What a sweet family I have!  We used to have a gazebo on our deck that I loved but our homeowners association decided we couldn't have it so we had to take it down and I was so sad.  But know this is a perfect as it is an umbrella and it even has a net that you can put around the edges to close it in if you want just like our gazebo had.  So know we have the best of both worlds!
Then we sat down (after a little bit of a crazy night!) to a yummy steak dinner!
IMG_7695
And a yummy Pomegranate Martini!  ;)  Turning 37th was a great birthday and I loved every second of the little celebrations I had along the way!

I admit it...I am a geek!

Yep I am!  I love all the little quizzes you see on the web and in magazines and take the time to do them even if the results are something that are totally silly.  So I found this one on Sheri's blog and just couldn't resist!  So when you are done learning facts about me that you may have never wanted to know...have fun doing it for yourself. It's fun!
